"When we give ourselves over completely to the spirit of the dance,
it becomes a prayer.

SoulDance & Trance
In SoulDance & Trance, we follow our movement impulses with closed eyes, letting ourselves be guided by sounds and rhythms. Before the dance, we focus on a specific intention or question. You might dance for more joy in life, for healthier boundaries, or for a beloved person. You are heartly invited to bring a specific question into the dance.
Alternatively, you may simply want to enjoy the time reconnecting with yourself, free from distractions, to-do lists, and external expectations, and take that sense of connection back into your everyday life.

If you want, you can enter a deeper trance state with particular movements and breathing techniques, but you don’t have to. You are free to choose what feels most right for you.
After an introduction, we will move for about an hour in a safe, protected space. The blindfold helps you fully immerse yourself in the experience of feeling.
The moving part is followed by a sound journey while the body can rest. Afterwards, you are invited to draw or write down your experience and share it with the group if you wish.
There is no prior experience in dance or trance required and you also don’t need to be athletic. Comfortable clothing, a water bottle, and a sense of curiosity is all you need.
What is trance?
Trance is an altered state of consciousness often achieved through repetitive movements, sounds, or rhythms. In this state, perception becomes more intense, and the mind can free itself from everyday thoughts. Trance is commonly used in various spiritual, therapeutic, and artistic practices to facilitate deeper emotional, physical, or mental processes.
In many cultures, trance is induced through rituals, music, dance, or meditation to connect with the subconscious or a higher energy source. In hypnotherapy, trance is used to ease access to the subconscious, with the goal of resolving emotional blockages or bringing about behavioral changes. In music, dance, or other forms of creative expression, trance can be used as a tool to immerse oneself in the flow of creativity and create intense emotional moments.
In a way, everyone experiences some form of trance regularly, whether through daydreaming on a train, engaging in meditative activities, or while exercising. In everyday life, our brains typically operate in fast beta waves, but in trance, they slow down to the alpha range (mental relaxation, meditation) and sometimes even the theta range (creativity, dreams, subconscious).
In trance, you can recognize connections that were previously hidden, gain new perspectives, and explore deeper dimensions of your being. Similar to dreams, insights can be processed, the inner system reorganized, and new inspirations can be discovered.
SoulDance & Trance takes place regularly at Fincan Altenbraker Str. 26 in Berlin/Neukölln.
